Craftyness Abounds

As mentioned on the ISE blog, I have been having a love afair with booties lately http://ise9.blogspot.com/2010/11/remember-those-booties.html -- 6 pairs completed and various yarn ends still availble for more. I have pushed the booties to the rear (sort of) to work on various other projects.

My ISE 9 scarf is underway and somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 done depending on how long I make it. Pleased with its progress to date I have to keep my eye on the deadline or I know I'll be racing to finish....

Finished a baby kimono that was languishing... before said baby outgrew it. Quite a feat that.

Big news in craft land is the completion of 2 quilt tops in about 1-1/2 weeks. Amazing to me that when the mojo is right how quickly things can come together. Same as how quickly they stall when the mojo is off.

The quilt tops were quite a exclamation for me. One is a Christmas gift for my daughter's special boy (love the boy) ... pictures will be forthcoming when I get the whole camera thing straightened out.

The second has fabric that has been languishing for about 10 years. The main fabrics are from a "St. Jude's" series carried at Minnesota Fabrics long long ago. I have just never had the push to make them up. 2 years ago I purchased additional fabric to pull it all together and even cut the squares but still could not find the oomph to sew them together. Then the other day the right person came along for the quilt and it made itself up. Amazing how that works! So the top is done, sandwiched and currently in the being tied mode. Again, pics will be forthcoming.

Thanks for checking in all :)

Hello, Goodbye August

Well summer is winding to a close and we prepare the kids to return to school...

Band camp lived up to its expectations. Had a lot of fun with the kids -- thanks Tiff for giving it a try. Can't explain to someone how wonderful it is, has to be experienced. The absolute pouring rain and tackeling Lissa in the mud is probably my best memory.

This is a year of lasts with Lissa. Senior pictures are complete and waiting to be ordered. Her last band camp and band season. She is anxious to start back and have a schedule again, to finish and move on.

Joshua is preparing to enter 8th grade. As Lis exists High School, Joshua will be starting.

Summer wains as Autumn approaches

Endings and new beginnings......

Lazy Days of Summer

Hope you are all enjoying your summer.....

Vacation is finished here - Disney, wonderful trip... few speed bumps. Of course what would a family vacation be without them.

Birthday has passed, enjoyable other than I am another year older. As a state of mind I feel about .... 38.

Gearing up for band camp. 3 weeks from now I will sit in my lounge chair, enjoying the sunshine, music from the band and hoping all "emergencies" are minor in nature.

Cast on for a pair of socks. First ones since January and it was probably a year prior the last pair. Really lost my knitting drive. This is nice though. Something I can pick up and just knit on. Mindless. Enjoying the continued repeat of ribbing.

My daughter is maturing by fathoms this summer. Am discovering a new relationship with her and though I see her less we are closer than before.

Joshua too is enjoying these quiet lazy days. Just a few more weeks though.....

A sad entry

See my Kitty Kat over there to the right of the screen?

He died Monday. Don't know why. In the scheme of things really doesn't matter, end result is the same.

I will miss my Kitty.

Poached from Hasbu's Hideaway

Before you were conceived
I wanted you.
Before you were born
I loved you.
Before you were here an hour
I would die for you.
This is the miracle of life. [maureen hawkins]

Prom 2010

My Children (center two in black). Lissa's Junior Prom. Hard to believe were already here. .... No more babies. Both a joy and sadness.

Falling off the face, or not

No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.

Busy - an understatement.

Currently hosting ISE 8 -- a little bit more than I need with work, etc.

Finishing my first scarf of two. Hoping no one flakes out cause I really don't have time to make more.

Why two? My fault. Learning curve.

Signs of spring are becoming more and more plentiful.

Bought the CUTEST shoes -- if I ever get a chance to take a picture. 3 inch heals == look like oil dyed Easter eggs.

Anyways, cheers all

Happy January

Hope all are enjoying January as it winds now to a close. Here in Michigan we've been very fortunate with the weather --- not too much snow and some pretty mild temperatures.

Ordered the "Knit Picks" sock kit. Received it last week and cast on my first pair of socks in almost a year. Enjoying it very much!!! Not going great guns (still have the "kindle" which takes up time) and then there's always work... but still have about 3 inches done and approx another 3 until I can start the heal. And that's doing 2 at a time!

Finishing up "Pretty Thing". This is my 3rd and although a GREAT pattern..... ummmm I think I'm about done with this one for awhile.

Also have some new yarn for a baby sweater. Lots of babies coming this spring so I have to get baby knitting.

Also decided to host the International Scarf Exchange #8. Really enjoy participating in an exchange but this one had petered out and I haven't found another one. So having nothing else in the works (ha, ha) decided to add this to the mix.

If you are interested in joining, you can find the information here: http://www.ise82010.blogspot.com

That's the skinny -- Keep in touch :)

A little cleaning...

So I decided to not join the STR -- though I wanted too very badly, I didn't want to spend that much money for the stuff to sit.

Instead I decided to order the "Knitpicks" sock kit. Six pairs of cute anklets (more along the lines of what I wear) patterns and yarn for $25.00. If it sits and doesn't get knit (I hope not) I won't feel as guilty. Hopefully they will be quickie patterns and with some success I'll be inspired to continue.

While I was off I decided to do some deep cleaning -- you know January stuff. Move furniture type cleaning. So I dove into my stash to clean/organize that too.

Found not 1, not 2, not 3 but 5 skeins of STR in my stash.

Made me ever so glad again that I didn't join since I have almost a years worth sitting in a closet.

To Join or Not To Join

So the new Rockin Sock Club signups are up.

And I'm trying to decide whether or not to join......

I love ........

the idea of 12 patterns
6 new skeins of yarn
a surprise package every other month

I'm not sure....

cause I didn't finish all the patterns, skeins from the last time I joined (08)
I haven't knit a pair of socks in probably 6 months

Don't know if I overdid it with Christmas 08 making probably 8 pair or if its cause I teach the sock class now that I'm burned out or do I just need to be re-enthused. ?

Joy sent me a couple of sock books for Christmas and I am re-interested in getting a pair on the needles (excited to actually)... but I haven't yet, and I start teaching again Monday, and.......

I just don't know.

What do you think?
