I Love Midnights

I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned this (only 100 times) but this fact was brought home again this morning.

Life in the ER is hectic at best and usually one questions hourly why they chose this and why they're still here. Monday's are the absolute worse. So this AM when we had a call off and there were just 2 RNs for the AM and only 3 for the pm on the busiest of days, I praised Father God above that I no longer have this additional stress.

Don't get me wrong - midnights has its own host of problems. Your "sick" people are usually Really sick. Death happens with regularity in the wee hours of the AM. But all in all I would rather be on the graveyard shift any night than back on afternoons.

Thanks for your last beautiful post. I try to think that way when I'm with Ella, but sometimes I need a reminder...

your job sounds really intense, but also really familiar to me because of my DH. I guess there are some similarities, right? Only a special kind of person can do these jobs. Kudos to you, Miss K!

I am with you all the way. I work 7p-7a, and I would never work daylight. Except right now, because I'm on light duty with my ankle, and I have to work daylight. But yes, you're right - all the really intense sickness and death happens at night. But not having to deal with most of the stupid people in the world is worth it! LOL

I'm very thankful for nurses like you who do choose to work the graveyard shift, because I've ended up in the ER myself and with my kids in the middle of the night. Without you where would we be? So thanks to all of you who do such a wonderful thing :)

PS-your kitty looks almost exactly like my Mom's two cats!

I'm so glad there are nurses like you who take care of the sick in the middle of the night. It's comforting to know that somebody is there if anything should happen.
